The Vice President of International Programs, Corporate Council of Africa, Robert Perry has disclosed that America has come to partner with the African community in areas of trade and development to develop potential business partners from outside the country to Nigeria.

The partnership is also expected to ensure business opportunities are explored in Africa. He made this statement at a briefing in Abuja recently where he added that the main aim of his visit to Nigeria was to help in trade development and effective investments between Nigeria and America.

Perry, who came alongside the Chairman, American- Nigerian Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Percy Wilson, added that the visit is also to create and facilitate a conducive environment for trade between the United States and Nigeria communities.

The American-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce which was established in 2007 is aimed at the promotion of trade and effective investments between the United States and Nigeria, also to help in raising the profile of Nigeria in the United States.

"You have got a lot of talented people with ideas, with money and the issue is bringing people together. I expect that now with the plan and presentation by the government and others you would be able to attract more money, people coming in to do projects in the power sector."

Perry noted that his group would be back in several months with specific American businesses that have identified opportunities that they want to pursue. The third annual infrastructural conference would be coming up where the business people would take advantage of meeting up close and personal with the government.

The main focus of the conference is on major infrastructure; from Telecommunications to Electricity in the country. Also, it would help in the assisting in projects developments in the country.

According to him, the inadequacy of the distribution of electricity in the power sector is as a result of lack of a guaranteed policy frame work and he has said that, this will be discussed extensively during the conference which would be coming up later in the year.
